Lately it seems that more and more drugs that we use to manage diabetes are proving to be very good proponents in the battle against heart disease. We all have heard the value of the SGLT-2 inhibitors in reducing cardiovascular risk, and they even carry the indication. The GLP-1 Mimetics also have research showing their value.

Now our current intern, George McConnell, PharmD. Candidate, LECOM School of Pharmacy, has found that an older drug for hypertension can actually help lower type 2 diabetes risk and interestingly enough, we advocate giving this medication to every diabetes patient, regardless if they have hypertension.

Click here to find out which medication we are talking about.
