Letter from the Editor #594

Oct 8, 2011

This week we have another article about the value of diabetes education and self management training (See this week’s Item #2, Behavioral and Educational Interventions Effective for Patients with Poorly Controlled Diabetes). This makes over 30 in the past year and apparently our elected officials are taking notice. There is a lot of noise in both the House and Senate. In the U.S. House of Representatives, Bill HR2787 has now picked up 10 sponsors on both sides of the aisle and in the Senate, Bill S. 1468 has 6 sponsors. Now it is your turn to push Diabetes Education over the top by contacting your Senator and/or Representative and letting them know how important passing these 2 bills are. Just go to Contacting the Congress to contact your Congressperson.
