Letter from the Editor: Young Adults Keen on Having a Patient-Centered Medical Home

Jun 18, 2011

We have spent a lot of time over the past few months helping you learn about Shared Medical Appointments and Patient Centered Medical Homes, and most of the time we all think about seniors as the most likely candidates. This week, our current Doctor of Pharmacy candidate, Daniel Schultz, spoke with Adam Lee at the American Academy of Family Physicians about a recent survey showing that a majority of 18-30 year olds wanted a medical home for their health care. Click here to read what the AAFP survey found out.

Just a couple of weeks ago Germany and France decided to remove Actos from their respective approved drugs list because of associated complications. If this occurs in the US then that would appear to finish off the class. But there is news of a new TZD, Balaglitazone, which is heading towards the market. Can any of you imagine the FDA approving a new TZD?¬†Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories says this one is different. Check out this week’s Item #4,¬†Experimental TZD Balaglitazone Shows Fewer Side Effects, to learn more.

Look for our upcoming GLP-1 series Issue #3 where we will share some of the results of our recent survey. A big thank you to all of you who gave us your feedback and insight on GLP-1 therapy!
