Data on more than 54,000 participants who were at least 45 years old revealed those who slept for six hours or less and those who slept for 10 hours or more showed higher prevalence of coronary heart disease, stroke and diabetes, as well as obesity and anxiety, compared with those who slept seven to nine hours.
