This past week it seems that the genomic testing company 23&ME has been on an advertising blitz. Maybe they feel that Independence Day is a great time for people to think about their heritage. It was interesting that after one of their commercials, there was one from a large cancer treatment center talking about how genetics can play a big role in selecting the right treatment for certain cancers, and how the future of this type of testing will be used more and more for treatment choices. This week our Disaster Avoided looks at how genetics plays a role in the treatment of hypertension, and how people of color sometimes need a different medication choice.
