This
Week...
We
are beginning our 4th year at Diabetes In Control. After
157 issues, we just want to say thanks for your great comments
and support. Please help us double our circulation this
year by asking one new colleague to sign
up.
I
have just gotten back from the American Academy of Physician
Assistants annual conference in New Orleans. I was overwhelmed
by how involved these professionals are in diabetes care.
If you work with physicians who have PA’s in their
office take time to get to know them.
If
you are participating in the Needle Disintegrator feedback
study and have used the unit for at least 30 days, please
go to this
page here.
We have had 2 of our patients using the new Logic
and Latitude diabetes management systems for the past
6 weeks and I have prepared a special feature on their experiences.

Uses And Doses For Nutrient Supplements.
Do
fat cells just lie around as big yellow globs? Not according
to Dr. Evan Rosen’s new feature:
The Secret Life of Fat Cells.

FDA says counterfeit Lipitor recalled by distributor
Fri May 23, 2003 06:57 PM ET WASHINGTON. The U.S. Food and
Drug Administration warned consumers and health professionals
on Friday to check for three counterfeit lots of the cholesterol-lowering
drug Lipitor that are being recalled by a Kansas City-based
distributor. The counterfeit Lipitor posed a potentially
significant health hazard and was being voluntarily recalled
by Albers Medical Distributors Inc., the FDA said in a statement.
Consumers should not take any tablets from packages with
labels saying "Repackaged by: MED-PRO, Inc. Lexington,
Neb.," with lot numbers 20722V, 04132V and 16942V,
the FDA said.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"Nothing
can bring you peace but yourself."

Importing
Drugs from Canada is Growing But!…….Beware!
Over
$600 million in Rx imports in just the last year. It’s
mostly through the mail...from Internet pharmacies.
The lower prices are due to Canadian gov't price
controls and favorable Canadian currency conversion
rates.
Most
Canadian provinces don't allow pharmacists to fill
Rxs from U.S. physicians...so Canadian physicians "rewrite" them.
U.S. law says importation is illegal...but most
patients have no idea they're breaking the law. Read More |
