BIOSAFE Kids, a tax exempt 501(c) (3) charitable organization created by BIOSAFE Medical Technologies, Inc., a leader in at-home, diagnostic medical testing, is teaming up with Diabetes In Control to distribute free and low-cost BIOSAFE Hemoglobin A1c tests to underserved members of the diabetes population.  The purpose of the program is to assist those persons affected with diabetes who are in the greatest financial need, and also to raise public awareness of the necessity for regular Hemoglobin A1c testing.  Tests will be distributed through medical professionals.  Limited Quantities! FDA Approves New Indication for Glucovance

Glucovance OK’ed to use with Thiazolidediones, which makes it a triple therapy. 

Drugmaker Bristol-Myers Squibb Company said on Friday that it received a supplementary approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), allowing the use of its type 2 diabetic therapy Glucovance (glyburide and metformin HCl) along with thiazolidinediones (TZDs), such as Avandia (rosiglitazone) and Actos (pioglitazone).  See item #6 below for more information.

Firms, Agency Clash Over Pricing Law.

A widely advertised discount drug program for Medicare patients abruptly raised its prices for thousands of users this week.

Drug giants Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. and GlaxoSmithKline PLC, two of the seven pharmaceutical companies that created the program to ward off criticism they were charging seniors and disabled people too much for drugs, said yesterday that they were forced to reduce some of their discounts in the Together Rx program to comply with a federal drug-pricing law.  Read More...
