In issue 106 the article entitled "Starlix
Prevents Type 2 Diabetes" the headline appears to make a
claim that is unsubstantiated by the research. Arthur Sherman, Ph.
D.from the National Institutes of Health, NIDDK points out that upon
reading the actual article, which repeats the same unfounded headline,
he learned that the results of this diabetes prevention trial will
not be available until 2007. The only clear-cut result
obtained so far is that Starlix normalizes insulin secretion,
which is hardly surprising since it is an insulin secretagogue.
Thanks
to Dr Sherman for alerting us to that.
