Your patient is a 42-year-old woman who was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes six months ago. Her HbA1c is 7.3% on metformin. She is moderately overweight, with a BMI of 29, and has not been able to lose weight or begin a regular exercise program. During her past two office visits, her blood pressure has been elevated, and today it measures 150/97 mmHg.

Which of the following do you do to reduce her cardiovascular risk?

A. Encourage her to get at least 15 minutes of exercise 4 days a week.

B. Order a stress test immediately.
