 Farhad Zangeneh, MD, FACP, FACE, is Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. Dr. Zangeneh is also Medical Director of the Endocrine, Diabetes and Osteoporosis Clinic (EDOC) in Sterling, Virginia. 

Following internship and residency in internal medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals of Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Zangeneh completed clinical and research fellowships in diabetes, endocrinology, metabolism, and nutrition at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic and Foundation for Medical Research in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Zangeneh is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and has a subspecialty certification in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. He is a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology. Dr. Zangeneh has been very active in the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), having served on the Board of Directors, the Membership Committee, the Power of Prevention and Strategic Planning Committees, and the Scientific Program Committee for the Annual Congress and as Alternate Delegate to the American Medical Association. He also served on the AACE board as a FIT representative and is a member of the Intensive Insulin Management Task Force. In addition, Dr. Zangeneh serves as course co-director of the Cleveland Clinic/AACE annual endocrinology and metabolism board review course. 

Dr. Zangeneh is published in several peer-reviewed journals, including the American Journal of Physiology–Endocrinology and Metabolism, Mayo Clinic Proceedings, Endocrine Practice, Thyroid, Diabetes Care, and Postgraduate Medicine and Endocrine Trends. Dr. Zangeneh contributed to the Pituitary section of ASAP/AACE Board Review manual and the AACE Medical Guidelines for Diabetes Mellitus. He is a recipient of the AACE Young Investigator Award and receives research grants from the Endocrine Fellows Foundation. His clinical interests include general endocrinology, diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, and the interplay of vitamin D deficiency, metabolic bone disease, lipid disorders, autoimmune thyroid disease, and endocrine hypertension. Dr. Zangeneh’s research interests include the interplay between insulin resistance and impaired insulin secretion in the natural history of type 2 diabetes, endothelial dysfunction and the vascular biology of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), and atherosclerosis. He is a researcher in ongoing projects studying the silent epidemic of vitamin D deficiency.
