I have been providing diabetes education for the last 19 years and over that time there have been so many methods for diabetes control and management that it would fill up a thumb drive to just list all of them. Currently the main focus seems to be on carbohydrates and the type of carbohydrates a person eats. When I speak to my patients they all talk about ways that they are replacing their "high carb" foods with other foods that have little or no effect on glucose. In addition these foods are often touted as ways to lose weight. This month we focus on food science, labels and ways to find out the real truth.
