Editor’s Note: The Value of Glucagon Kits; Retinopathy Homerun Slides; and Fear of Insulin

Many times our patients get a Glucagon Kit when they start on insulin and since most patients are taught to only use the injection if they are unconscious, they never use it. However, in this week’s Diabetes Disaster Averted, the use of part of a glucagon injection kit was very valuable for a young patient.

When I describe retinopathy to my students it often comes off hard to understand so when I reviewed this week’s Homerun Slides from Dr. Paul Chous, I recognized that I now had a very effective way to teach this subject. And we round out this week’s Diabetes Clinical Mastery series issue with our Case Study focusing on methods for helping your patients overcome their fear of insulin.
