Editor’s Note – SE091715

daveGLP-1 analog therapy hit a new threshold last month with the most prescriptions ever filled in a 30-day period. There are also more prescribers using these products than ever before. I think that one of the reasons is the fear of needles has decreased. I believe that it was not really a fear of needles for a lot of patients, but a fear of insulin and all the stigmas that went with it.

We can see the difference in the ease with which patients will use a GLP-1 analog, but would never consider insulin. To understand what I am talking about, just take a look a this month’s Case Study and how someone who wanted off insulin when they left the hospital had no problem using a GLP-1 analog.
