Editor’s Note: Kids and Adherence to Medication

Medication adherence plays an important role in patient care, but sometimes patients become complacent and lose focus on their care. When we talk about kids with type 1 diabetes, when parents and other caregivers are involved, the problem can be even worse. Multiple studies have shown that, when it comes to kids, one in two patients will become non-compliant to the point of endangering their health within 3-5 years of diagnosis. This week’s Clinical Gem gives us the tools to prevent these problems from developing.

Our Disaster Averted this week is all about the hazards of “Double Dosing” and how to decipher what your patients are actually taking, and our Homerun Slides delve into both the exogenous and endogenous causers of AGE’s.
