As we close out another year in diabetes care there is a lot to look back at. GLP-1 analogs are continuing to grow in both use and choices, and the different options available to prescribers have meant more and more patients are getting a chance to try these medications. Even the most skeptical of prescribers have started to use them. When GLP-1 therapy first appeared, there were a lot of comments by thought leaders on what these medications could do and most of us were skeptical. However, most of these early adapters were correct.
Our newsletter this month looks at some of the aspects of GLP-1 therapy that we once thought were far-fetched but are now accepted:
- Preservation of beta cells
- Alternative to basal insulin
- Once-a-week dosing
- Glucose regulated response
Be sure to check out each of these so you can see why using GLP-1 analogs makes a lot of sense.
