Editor’s Note, DCMS #165: Evidence-based Practice

Is there a difference between evidence-based medicine and evidence-based practice? Dr. Stanley Schwartz thinks so and this week we are going to share his Homerun Slides on why we need to focus on evidence-based practice in order to properly care for our patients.

In 1954, Bill Haley and the Comets first recorded the hit song "Shake Rattle and Roll," and over the years over 60 artists have recorded this rock and roll hit. When you and your staff get ready to give a flu shot this season maybe that song should become the mantra for preparing a flu shot for our patients, find out why in this week’s Disaster Averted, and then look at this week’s Clinical Case to learn how the right questions can define whether a patient has type 1 or type 2 diabetes or something altogether different. Our Mastery In Minutes video will give you a quick overview of some of the new guidelines for diabetes in pregnancy.
