Editor’s Note: Punxsutawney Phil, Retinopathy, Incretins, Pt. 3 and More

I am sitting here in Florida thinking about how many of you are waiting to find out if Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow. Sad as it seems I would guess that many of you freezing and covered with snow are hoping that the world’s most famous groundhog suffers from retinopathy and is not able to see his own shadow.

We all know that retinopathy is a complication that affects a lot of our diabetes patients and a lot of factors can go into increasing these complications. This week Drs. Edelman and Henry share their thoughts on how long term dyslipidemias can lead to complications and how to best treat the problem.

Our Homerun Slides get into great detail on DPP-4 inhibitors and how they exert their metabolic actions.

This week’s Diabetes Disaster Averted focuses on the use of insulin pens and gives a new “twist” to a problem that happens quite often.
