Drinking Whole Milk Can Be Healthier

Despite past trends away from full-fat foods, consuming dairy products that contain fat, like whole milk, might actually help consumers avoid obesity, according to research. Drinking full-fat milk may make consumers feel more full and the fat content of whole milk could be necessary for consumers’ bodies to absorb the nutrients found in milk. A meta-analysis of 16 studies on the relationship between dairy fat, obesity, and cardiometabolic disease is being performed. The observational evidence does not support the hypothesis that dairy fat or high-fat dairy foods contribute to obesity or cardiometabolic risk, and suggests that high-fat dairy consumption within typical dietary patterns is inversely associated with obesity risk.
