University of Chicago Gleacher Center, Chicago, IL

Diabetes in Action

December 4-6, 2003

Matt Corcoran, MD, conference chairperson and the Conference Committee are pleased to announce the program and conference faculty for the 2003 conference. The theme of this year's conference is "Diabetes in Action" to highlight the 18th year DESA has emphasized the importance of physical activity and regular exercise for members, guests and health care professionals in the management of diabetes and prevention of its complications.

The Gleacher Center, the site of this year's meeting, is a world class conference center located on Chicago's fabulous "Miracle Mile" Michigan Avenue shopping and entertainment district- near Lake Shore Drive, Navy Pier and easy access to the world famous Chicago Aquarium and museums. Conference participants will enjoy the excitement of a great city and an outstanding program that assembles leading professionals in the field of diabetes research, exercise, nutrition, and diabetes equipment and supplies.

It is an excellent opportunity for the exchange of exercise health information, sharing training strategies with leaders in the field and motivation for incorporating exercise as a tool for improved blood glucose control.

Who Should Attend
Individuals with type 1 and 2 diabetes, their families and loved ones, healthcare professionals, and those in the health and fitness field who want to incorporate diabetes exercise programs in their scope of practice.

The conference culminates in the 2003 DESA Athletic Achievement Award presentation dinner on Saturday evening, sponsored for the 10th year by LifeScan.

Come learn and enjoy! Share your needs, failures and successes with experts committed to maintaining good health through proper exercise and nutrition. For the competitive athlete, come learn training techniques from fellow members and trainers who daily achieve their goals.
