Over the past 10 years the number of car brands has decreased. GM once had 8 nameplates and now they are down to 4. They used to have a brand for every age bracket, with Buick being the name badge for their old people’s car (I can say that because in 3 months I will be old enough for Medicare).

When they did away with Pontiac and Oldsmobile they had to re-introduce the Buick as a young person’s car as well.

You might remember their tagline: “This ain’t your father’s Buick….”

This week in our publisher’s final interview with Dr. Aaron Vinik, Steve asks him about older people, diabetes and lifestyles. His answers beg you to think about that old car tagline and how your father’s diabetes is different.
