Over the past 10 years the number of car brands has decreased. GM once had 8 nameplates and now they are down to 4. They used to have a brand for every age bracket, with Buick being the name badge for their old people’s car (I can say that because in 3 months I will be old enough for Medicare).

When they did away with Pontiac and Oldsmobile they had to re-introduce the Buick as a young person’s car as well.

You might remember their tagline: “This ain’t your father’s Buick….”
