1. ACE inhibitors should be used in every patient with diabetes because of their renoprotective effects

2. Intensive treatments of patients with Type 1 diabetes was associated with a decrease in the risk of developing long term complications

3. Type 2 diabetes is best controlled with diet and exercise plus metformin and can often be prevented with this regimen in high risk individuals

4. Tight glycemic control in patients with Type 2 diabetes reduces the microvascular complications in these patients

5. Many of the long term complications are not greatly affected by increasing the frequency of blood glucose monitoring
