New Product: Valturna

Valturna (the combination of the renin inhibitors valsartan and aliskiren): for treatment of high blood pressure.

Valturna is indicated for treatment of hypertensive patients who aren't adequately controlled on aliskiren (Tekturna) or angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) monotherapy, and for initial therapy in patients likely to need multidrug treatment to reach blood pressure goals. While other antihypertensive single-pill combination drugs are available, Valturna will be the first targeted solely within the renin angiotensin aldosterone system, according to drug developer Novartis.
