Correlation Between Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and Microalbuminuria in Prediabetes and Type 2 Diabetes

Correlation Between Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and Microalbuminuria in Prediabetes and Type 2 Diabetes: The association between nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and microalbuminuria was evaluated in 1,361 patients with prediabetes or newly diagnosed Type 2 diabetes. The incidence of microalbuminuria and the albumin-to-creatinine ratio were greater in both prediabetic and Type 2 diabetes patients with NAFLD as opposed to those without NAFLD. Moreover, logistic regression analysis revealed that NAFLD strongly and independently correlated with increased rates of microalbuminuria. Hwang, S.T. et al. Internal Medicine
