Blood Glucose Levels Edge Up in Latest Teen Data

Blood Glucose Levels Edge Up in Latest Teen Data: Although most U.S. teens have normal blood glucose levels, more than 30% are above normal weight, which has public health officials worried about the future burden of hyperglycemic illness. Among nondiabetic teens who underwent fasting glucose testing, 17% were overweight and 16% were considered at risk, with body mass indices hovering closer to overweight than normal. Impaired fasting glucose (IFG), was present in 11% of the teens, and it was this group of 415 teens that had the highest mean HbA1c levels (5.27%).
