Forty-eight Percent of Americans Drink Soda Every Day

Most of those soda drinkers average 2.6 glasses/day with 28% of drinkers consuming one glass and 20% drinking two or more glasses. According to the Gallup consumption poll, soda drinkers not only consume more sugar, they also tend to list themselves as overweight but the study found almost no weight differential between moderate soda drinkers (one glass/day) and heavy soda drinkers (2 or more glasses). Researchers believe heavy soda drinkers may be more likely to consume diet soda which helps control additional weight gain. Conducted by Gallup from July 9-12
