Editor's Note: TID Means 3 Times a Day But Which 3 Times?

If you like the combination of evidence-based medicine and real-world guidelines then you'll want to check out Part 3 of the Position Statement of the ADA and the EASD on the Management of Type 2 Diabetes. This week they take the collective years of experience of the Advisory Board and add in proven medicine to home in on the best ways to treat all diabetes patients, individually. If you have not yet had a chance to look at the first two parts just see our Homerun Slides Prevention section for those sets and much more.

Does "tid" written on a prescription always mean "three times a day" and how do you know which times? This week's Disaster Averted shows what can happen if we are not specific about when "tid" is, and this week's Clinical Text excerpt from the JOSLIN'S DIABETES DESKBOOK – A Guide for Primary Care Providers, Updated 2nd Edition emphasizes the importance of collaborating with your patients to meet their goals.
