Last week I was walking in the OTC department in front of the pharmacy and I noticed a box of Fastin on the shelf. I was surprised by this as I knew that the RX version was phentermine 37.5 mg and could not believe that you could now buy it over the counter. I picked up the box and the ingredients were not the same: an OTC supplement maker had bought the rights to the name and was using it. It was not until we received this week's Disaster Averted, Beware of Similar Names, that I fully realized the potential problems that this could cause.
