I have recently intensified my cycling training as I prepare for an 80 mile and 6000 foot climbing ride in Chattanooga next month. To get ready I have to switch from riding with our bike club 90% of the time to solo riding with a power meter and heart monitor most of the time. There is no doubt that these solo rides are harder because of their intensity, but they are also harder because there is no one to “share the pain” with.

This hit home with me when I read our special feature from Dr. Sheri Colberg where she discusses things your patients do to help them stick to their exercise routines. Be sure to check out her paragraph on “getting an exercise buddy.”
