I had a friend of mine send me some guidelines on the use of low carb, high protein programs for diabetes management. One of the tenets of these guidelines was the value of replacing animal protein with vegetable proteins.

Seems to make sense when you think about saturated fat, and caloric density, not to mention portion size. However, most of these claims were based on meta analyses of older studies.

This week we have the results of a study that looks at the consumption of nuts and the direct effect on diabetes and cardiovascular health.
