On Tuesday in our DCMS issue, I spoke about a newly diagnosed type 1 patient and the anxiety his family was experiencing. I asked for an Endo in the Raleigh, NC area and many of you offered a suggestion. The family followed the recommendation of our good friend Dr. John Buse. Hopefully this young man will get the care and training he needs to manage his diabetes for many years to come. One of the ways he may be able to increase his control is by using an SGLT-2 inhibitor. This month our special edition looks at the possibility that using an SGLT-2 inhibitor can preserve and possibly rejuvenate beta cells in type 1 patients.
