When you do the math, 95% of all diabetes patients have type 2. This does not mean that we should ignore type 1 patients when looking at psychological problems; in fact, most of the information on these problems deals with type 1 patients. These problems can include development of diabetes, medication adherence, and the desire for overall control of the patient’s diabetes. This week our Clinical text looks at the psychological aspects of diabetes and how we as practitioners can take advantage of the current knowledge to improve patient care.

Good examples of the benefit of using these techniques are in both our Disaster Averted for the week and our Top Read article of the month on injection techniques.
